Advocate. Educate. Empower.
At the National Youth Rights Association (NYRA), we believe that age should never limit opportunity, autonomy, or voice. But every day, young people face systemic barriers, discriminatory policies, and societal norms that undermine their rights, potential, and humanity.
The Challenges We Face
- Age-Based Discrimination: From voting rights to workplace protections, young people are often excluded from decisions and opportunities that impact their lives.
- Limited Autonomy: Many youth are denied the freedom to make personal choices about their education, health, and future.
- Stereotypes and Misconceptions: Negative age-based stereotypes perpetuate the false notion that young people lack the capacity to lead, contribute, and make sound decisions.
These challenges not only stifle individual potential but also rob society of the innovation, creativity, perspective, and leadership that young people bring to the table.
Our Purpose
We exist to ensure that young people are not just seen but heard and respected as equal members of society. NYRA was founded to create a future where youth are not passive participants but active leaders in shaping equitable and sustainable communities.
We do this because:
- Youth Are Change-Makers: Throughout history, young people have driven progress and inspired transformative movements.
- Rights Matter at Every Age: Age should never determine access to freedom, dignity, or opportunity.
- A More Inclusive Future Is Possible: By addressing inequities today, we are building a better world for future generations.
The Impact of Our Work
By advocating for youth rights, educating communities, and empowering young leaders, we are:
- Strengthening democracy by lowering barriers to civic engagement.
- Breaking down stereotypes and fostering intergenerational understanding.
- Supporting young people in realizing their full potential and creating meaningful change.
Join the Movement
We do this work because it’s necessary, but we cannot do it alone. Together, we can build a society that uplifts and respects youth voices.
